Family Ties BBQ & Seafood Restaurant
About This Spot
Stepping into Family Ties BBQ & Seafood Restaurant, you immediately sense the unhurried rhythm of a place that values hospitality as much as tradition. Nestled just off Greensboro’s Main Street, this is the kind of spot where the pace slows down, inviting you to take a moment and settle in. The hum of quiet conversations blends easily with the warm, familiar aromas drifting from the kitchen, wrapping around you like a well-worn family blanket.
Here, the atmosphere is sincere and welcoming, reflecting the pride of longtime locals who gather around generous portions and thoughtfully prepared Southern fare. The setting leans into simplicity—there’s a charm in the modest decor and the shared picnic tables shaded just outside, encouraging lively gatherings whether it’s a casual weekday lunch or a weekend reunion. The staff’s easy friendliness feels genuine, not rehearsed, set in the care they show as they check in on your meal and share a smile or a story.
The heart of the experience lies in the food, where smoky ribs and tender pulled pork find their fullest expression without needing to shout with sauces. You might find yourself savoring bites of catfish seasoned with care or sampling sides that strike a balance between comfort and fresh homestyle flavors—a corn muffin that’s satisfyingly dense, collard greens that speak of slow-cooked tradition, and a soulful helping of fried okra that crunches just right. Each plate carries a sense of place and time, crafted with the unspoken understanding that good barbecue is about more than just the meat—it’s the atmosphere, the company, and the small rituals that turn a meal into a memory.
Whether you’re passing through or a local looking for a trusted spot, Family Ties invites you to slow down and share a meal that feels like it’s been made for the people around the table. It’s an understated celebration of Southern flavors and genuine warmth, where the joy comes from being together as much as from the food itself.

My family ate here today and we were all very pleased with our delicious food! Ribs and catfish were both excellent. Sides were very good and very generous. Very reasonably priced. The owners/staff were charming and friendly and eager to please in the nicest of ways. We will definitely be back!

Absolutely delicious and authentic southern BBQ and cuisine! My grandma and I were coming through Greensboro and complained about the lack of options when we discovered Family Ties. We split a half-rack of ribs with three sides and it was absolutely wonderful. Every piece of the meal was spectacular, you can tell these folks take pride in what they're making.

5 minutes off the interstate — don’t miss this spot. Smoked pulled pork, fried okra, mac n cheese are all fire. Everyone else eating had other things too, I’m guessing the entire menu is amazing. Tea and lemonade great too. If I lived in town, I’d be here all the time; almost mad I’m only passing through.

My wife and I tried Family Ties over the weekend, and words cannot describe how delicious it was. You can tell it’s a quality meat when it doesn’t need sauce to be flavorful. It all but melted in my mouth. The sides were fantastic as well: tangy beans and salty fried okra and a wonderfully dense corn muffin. To top it all off, the staff were so welcoming and kind. The owner came out and checked on us, and we felt so cared for. We will definitely become regulars here!!!

What a great find. We had our group of adult siblings, 7 in all, which there really isn’t space for inside, so we opted for a shady picnic table outside. Great ribs, okra, catfish and mac &cheese! The folks were friendly and helpful and the portions generous. Very good!

Barbecue come in all flavors some I like more than others. I happen to like this flavor a lot. Servings were very generous and delicious. We had pulled pork sandwiches and plates with side of Mac and cheese, collards and coleslaw. Pulled pork plate had a very nice corn bread. Very tasty ice tea that wasn’t too sweet. Service was excellent. Owner/chef talked to us and wanted to make sure everything was to our expectations. On street parking is available. Restaurant has short hours around the weekend, so be sure to check times.

Very tasty and delicious southern country food. We were just stopping buy from Atl and coincidentally found this hidden family restaurant. The service was great too. We had pulled pork plate with baked beans and potatoes salad. Yummy!
